The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and GIC Private Limited are jointly organising a introductory training course on sustainability on 20 September (Tuesday), 9.00am to 5.00pm. The training course is conducted in hybrid format and participants can choose to attend in-person at SBF Center or online via Zoom. The key details are as follows:

Synopsis:           Join Ms Kuik Shiao-yin (Common Ground) and Ms Grace Cheah (Sustinere) to learn how businesses can play their roles in solving the climate crisis and what businesses can do to integrate sustainability into business operations to future-proof themselves. This training programme will also entail a panel discussion with senior management from SGX, GIC and DTC Corporation and touch on how and why businesses should accelerate their green transition.

About the Trainers:

Ms Kuik Shiao-Yin is the Director and Creative Strategist of Common Ground. Shiao-Yin works as a cultural change strategist. She is a Gestalt-based systems and organisational development consultant, process designer, trainer, facilitator, coach, communications advisor and public writer. She helps organisations develop a more empathetic, empowering approach to working on the changes they long to see in their systems. She trains and coaches people in the cognitive and social-emotional skills they need to manage and lead collaboratively through uncertain times and complex problems. Shiao-Yin was a two-time Nominated Member of Parliament (2014-2018). She sits on various boards, advising them on talent development, cultural strategy, behavioural shift and identity formation. She is a regular public speaker, sharing her insights on the challenge of leadership, trust-building, strategic narratives and the power of individuals in systems.
 
Ms Grace Cheah is the owner/founder of Sustinere Pte Ltd, an independent consultancy which provides sustainability-related consulting services to clients across various industries, on topics ranging from health and safety, environment, supply chain, labour and ethics issues, sustainability reporting and assurance. She has 12 years of experience in consultancy and auditing for various management systems (e.g. IS0 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001), traceability schemes (e.g. Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody (FSC CoC) certification) and social compliance standards (e.g. Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) and Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audits (SMETA)). She holds a Diploma in Adult Continuing Education and has delivered training for the Singapore Stock Exchange – Global Compact Network Sustainability Reporting Workshops in 2017. Grace has been delivering sustainability-related training for Singapore Management University, Global Compact Network Singapore and Singapore Green Building Council and has been recognised as a Training Partner of Global Compact Network Singapore (2020 – 2021). She has experience as a lead verifier for assurance of Sustainability Reports and Integrated Reports for various companies in the region and is a Lead Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner. She holds an M.Sc. in Biochemical Research from Imperial College London and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biotechnology from University College London.
