Towards A Sustainable World: Engineering The Way Forward

The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) and Singapore Polytechnic are partnering for the third year to organise the Charles Rudd Distinguished Lecture Series as part of the World Engineering Day (WED) 2025 celebrations. This annual series honors the late Er. Charles Rudd, a distinguished engineer and IES member, while promoting a greater appreciation of engineering’s contributions to society. WED 2025: Charles Rudd Distinguished Global Lectures (CRDGL) will bring together global experts, innovators, and thought leaders to explore emerging technologies and address critical engineering challenges under the theme, ‘Towards a Sustainable World: Engineering the Way Forward.’ Key topics include the Circular Economy and a Resilient Future, emphasizing engineering’s vital role in advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This hybrid event on 11 February 2025, featuring a three-hour lecture, is expected to attract over 1,000 participants locally and internationally. Highlights will be recorded and broadcast globally, reinforcing WED 2025’s mission of ‘Shaping Sustainable Future through Engineering.’

SCAL is proud to be a supporting organisation for this significant event.
